Carol Castro Ceramics earthenware and stoneware mosaics are unique. She draws original patterns on freezer paper, traces them on a slab of clay, cuts them out with a kitchen knife and fires and glazes them. The resulting mosaic tile is smooth, without sharp edges, and superb to other artists' broken tile catastrophes!
Carol's techniques gives her great versatillity and creatively over color and subject matter. Mosaics can be mounted on wood, chalkboard, concrete, and metal. If the mosaic is needed far away, tile can be mounted to fiberglass mesh and shipped. Once there, simply spread tile adhesive, set the tile on mesh, cure, and grout. Stoneware MosaicsStoneware Mosaics are great for outdoor use as the properly fired clay holds little moisture that could result in cracking. When mounted on concrete backerboard, these mosaic can be many shapes from circles, crosses, butterflies, or even the shape of Texas. Large Mosaic Installations Carol creates large scale mosaics for any space outdoor or indoor. Featured in the slideshow:
OUTDOOR - A successful project in Coppell, TX was this nearly 4-feet high by 7-feet wide tile mural! It was assembled completely in the studio on fiberglass mesh. Then, it was cut into pieces for transport. A skilled contractor set the meshed tile on the wall and grouted. Fantastic job! INDOOR - Carol stands in front of her large scale American Flag and Eagle Mosaic Wall Art. This large, original mosaic now greets patrons at Woody's #1 just off I-45 in Centerville, Texas. |

Recognition PlaquesThe Garden of Hope at The Center
The Garden of Hope Wall is a major project using mosaic recognition plaques to honor children living and deceased. The Garden of Hope is a heart-shaped sanctuary located behind The Center of Wichita Falls at 4011 Seymour Highway. Two levels of giving are possible. The first large mosaic wall of recognition plaques made by Carol was the Legacy Faith Wall in the front of The Center. The funds raised from purchase of the bluebonnet mosaic and plaques supported The Center's mission. Interfaith Ministries Inc An 8 X 4 feet trio of cake-decorated mosaic recognition plaques commemorate Interfaith Ministries Inc.'s 2007 Capital Campaign. Six levels of giving to renovate the ministry's new building are recognized. The center tree contains thousands of leaves made from clay piped through a pastry bag. |
